My name is Micah.
I like to see things work, and I notice that when things, machines, system, societies are working, they look and smell a particular way. It’s a thing of beauty, mostly because it happens so rarely.
More often, stuff is broken. The problems with how things work are often endemic. Not a result of people not being capable of knowing the answer, or being able to ultimately arrive at an answer, but an active and re-enforced behavior that avoids a workable answer or fix. The problem usually is not that we’re clumsy, stupid or ignorant. It’s our perspective.
This fascinates me to no end.
I see it in myself, and try to take an active role to eliminate these roadblocks. I don’t think I’m very good at it. I see it in others. They are terrible at even recognizing the problem, much less attempting to get around through or above it.
I am not a psychologist, or a social researcher. Well.. I don’t get paid for it and I didn’t go to school for it.
I am an engineer with 15 or so years of experience in audio engineering, databases, embedded processors, UI, online applications, Bluetooth and mixed signal hardware.
I like the beauty found in well designed and elegant systems, and I’m fascinated in how such a screwed up illogical creature like humans are able to occasionally do such amazing things.
This blog is about that, about projects I’m working on, and occasional rants about something or other.
